Kitchen Hack: How to Microwave Chocolate in a Stainless Steel Bowl

Share Post:

Yup…you read right.

A stainless steel bowl in the microwave.

I was working with Anna Olsen during a cooking class a few years back.  She handed me a bowl of chocolate chips in a stainless steel bowl and asked me to melt it in the microwave.

I thought, “she can’t be serious?”…”a metal bowl in the microwave?” “Lunacy!”

Well, it turns out that it’s aluminum that can’t go in the microwave.  However, as long as it is 100% stainless steel, you can use it in the microwave.

Honest engine!!

Let me show you…

Grab a small stainless steel bowl.

Add about 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.

At 30 second increments, put the chocolate (yup, trust me here!) into the microwave and start.

This is at 90 seconds (each microwave is different)…perfectly melted chocolate and no microwave fires!
