Sooooo, I’ve been thinking about all the things I’ve learned over covid.
Other than how to be patient with the the other members of my family that live under my roof (which currently is almost always just my husband of 31 years, sooooo), I’ve picked up a few tips and pointers here and there.
I’m sure you guys are the same. I mean, we have to hope that spending all that free time online (when you would have been doing normal ‘non-covid” things in the past) would mean you’ve learned some new things too (unless you spent the last year watching The Kardashians…in which case, you’ve learned how to apply eyeliner or something like that).
But since it’s Easter soon (and Passover this weekend), I thought I’d make something cute that we can share with the people around us – which looks like it will be the people under our own roof [again!].
I thought that I’d show you guys how easy it is to make these marzipan carrots that you can put it on something spring-like to make it a wee bit “extra” (you can even use a store bought cake – I won’t tell!!).
Watch my tutorial below:
When you put the marzipan in the plastic baggies, just add a few drops of orange to the larger piece and green to the smaller piece, close up the bag and start squishing!!!
Once they are all mixed up (they’ll look like playdoh), start by taking some of the orange marzipan out and roll it like carrots. Using a butter knife, make indents on the carrot to make it look real!
Using the green marzipan, put a small piece into a garlic press and squish it out…when it is as long as you’d like, slice it off with your butter knife!
Now, if you want to get really creative, look at my recipe for carrot cake Twinkies on the blog (click here)…
You can make the carrot cake batter in a 9×13″ pan and make sandwiches like this and top them with the carrots, or…
…you can bake the batter in some cake pans, spread the cream cheese icing all over it, top it with some crushed Oreos (too look like dirt) and top that with the carrots.
Now isn’t that better than learning how to put on eyeliner?
