Colour is coming!

Yes, I have picked produce with colour from the garden this year…beans, swiss chard, greens for salad, herbs, etc.
But, I was so excited to see some red on my apple trees!  And then I saw a red tomato…finally!  It may sound so silly to those of you that don’t have a garden, but every success sometimes feels like a baby taking a first step…every year is different and there is no guarantee that this year will be successful just because last year was!
Take a look at the other colours I picked today…

And my raspberry bushes…which I pretty much ignore through the whole season (I just lop off all the stems in November and wait for new growth the next summer)…this fall I will read up on all of the info I have pinned about berry bushes!

I picked 2 large zucchini (totally missed them as I swear they grew into mammoth sized squash overnight – look for awesome zucchini bread in the next couple of days), beets, yellow wax beans, Italian flat beans, and some parsley and basil….

and, on a humbling note, I picked and hung all of my chamomile to dry and use as tea. My husbands’ aunt came for a visit and said “oh, that’s so nice…you are hanging this so you can smell it when you walk by it”. I said, “no, I want to make tea with it”. She then said, “well, don’t you know you are supposed to put a sheet under it so that you catch all of the seeds that fall…the seeds are what you need to make tea”…….who knew??? So, this year I will just enjoy the fragrance …..
