When an old friend (thanks Kevin🥰) sends you a snap shot of his great grandmother’s Pink Lady Squares, you know they have to be made, right?

These squares are so nostalgic and made me happy when I made them! And when I put this in my stories yesterday, I got so much love from all of you for it.
So I’ve decided to write a blog post about how nostalgia, nostalgic foods and the feelings this has brought to all of us during this past year - when we needed it most - has filled a space in all of our hearts 💞

Not sure if y’all have noticed but everyone is loving chives lately! They are versatile and oh-so-pretty!🥰

Did you know that Ontario asparagus is available until the end of June?
Well, because it’s such a great vegetable, i think it needs its own place setting!! 🥰
This stunning spring Palamore tablecloth and these adorable Aplico lions head bowls were sent to me from the awesome folks at @williamssonomacanada.
So, of course I had to fill them with something special 💞
This fresh asparagus and pea soup (topped with these delish crostini) were the perfect dish to make this tabletop shine!

How many of you out there are out of ideas when it comes to eating eggs?
.
Well, look no further because I have a unique way of poaching eggs that you can do for one person or 20!
.
Poaching eggs by lining a glass with plastic wrap, adding whatever unique add-ins you’d like (mine has snipped chives, salt and pepper), wrap up the end, secure it to a skewer with a twist tie and then hang it over a pot of boiling water (you can do this in multiples!!).
This method takes a wee bit longer than the usual one...depending on your desired ‘doneness’, it can take up to 6 minutes.
Open up the plastic pouch and serve with crispy toast and smashed avocado!
And to get the best egg flavour out there, always buy @conestoga_eggs free run eggs... my go-to and seriously the best flavour!

I’ve been inspired by so many of you out there lately!
My pal Sonia (@saltnpepperhere) inspired me to make her cold peanut noodles this weekend (check out the reels on her page!) and she’s also the lilac queen, so whenever I pick lilacs, I think of her (🥰)... they make my banana bread look so purty, don’t ya think??💞
Now if I could just wrap my head around smelling all the lilacs and not eating all the banana bread😕
I really DO want to drop a few pounds but I also don’t want to get caught up on any of those “eat right and exercise” scams...

We (Ontarians) are (still🙄) in lockdown and, for those of you that don’t know, it’s going to be winter (again) tomorrow 😩.
So I think y’all need to make some bread or something.

Last week I posted, after many requests, a simple overnight sourdough loaf (with a secret trick to make sure it rises!)... now on the blog!

We have to bake bread because, if we don’t, we’ll need another job for all the stupid 💩we’ve been ordering online this past year.
Or we’ll need better therapy.

Is it just me or have y’all been eating with reckless abandon?
It might be summer... or covid... or menopause... or all three.
But I’m trying to rein it in and I always find inspiration over at my friend Aleyda’s page @thedishonhealthy ...
She’s a rockstar! She dishes out fabulous dishes, all while holding down a full time job, working on her blog, managing two small ones at home and working on multiple projects as well!
These smashed avocado and chickpea sweet potato toasts are an inspiration from her and are just what the doctor ordered!!
Aleyda, in exchange for your inspiration, I will give you some parenting advice...
Being a parent is like jumping out of a plane with a bunch of people who don’t know how to open their parachutes so you fly around doing it for them ... and then you hit the ground but you don’t die because you have to get up and cook dinner😏
