Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 4 cups mixed nuts I used a mix of smaller nuts in order to fit into my fillable ornament but you can use any combination of nuts like almonds, walnuts, pistachios and cashew nuts.
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium-sized saucepan over low heat, melt butter and honey until the butter is melted and is combined with honey, stirring frequently with a wooden spoon.
  • To the saucepan, add nuts and cayenne pepper and coat the nuts with the butter and honey mixture.
  • Pour the warmed honey/nut mixture on the prepared baking sheet and spread them in a single layer.
  • Place the pan on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 20 minutes until the nuts are golden brown in color, stirring them once or twice so that they roast evenly on all sides.
  • Remove from the oven and let the nuts cool down for 2-3 hours so that they are not sticky anymore.
  • Transfer them to an airtight container and store them at room temperature for a week (you can also freeze for up to 6 months).

Notes

- if you'd like a holiday feel, add a sprinkle of cinnamon and/or cloves to the mix.
