- High in protein: Use Greek yogurt or skyr and you’ve got yourself a snack or breakfast that actually fills you up.
- Endlessly customizable: Want fresh fruit on the bottom? Done. Prefer to swirl in nut butter? Go for it. Like a little crunch? Add granola underneath (or crunchy coconut on top).

- Impressive without the effort: Serve these to brunch guests and bask in the “Wait… is this crème brûlée?!” compliments.
Ingredients You’ll Need
This recipe is as easy as 1-2-3, but here’s the breakdown:
- Plain or vanilla Greek yogurt (or any high-protein yogurt you love)
- Jam (low sugar works best)
- Sugar (granulated white sugar works best for brûlée-ing, but more on that below)
- Optional toppings or add-ins: fresh fruit, nut butters, granola, protein powder, flavor extracts, citrus zest, etc.
Tools you’ll Need for These Brûléed Yogurt Spoons
- Chinese Soup Spoons
- Kitchen torch – ideal for that satisfying brûlée crack
- OR your oven’s broiler – works in a pinch, though it’s a bit trickier
- Or ramekins or small jars – for the classic brûlée presentation
How to Make Brûléed Yogurt Spoons
- Fill the spoons: Spoon about 1 tbsp of low-sugar jam into the bottom of each spoon and thne top with the same amount of yogurt (you can use small ramekins or jars for larger portions).
- Smooth the tops: Use a spoon to level the surface so the sugar caramelizes evenly.
- Sprinkle sugar: About 1/2 teaspoon per serving. You want a thin, even layer.
- Brûlée:
- If using a kitchen torch, gently caramelize the sugar until golden and crackly.
- If using the broiler, place the spoons on a baking sheet and broil 3–5 inches from the heat source for 1–3 minutes. Watch closely!
- Cool briefly and serve: Let the tops cool and harden slightly (about 2 minutes), then crack in!

Storage and Freezing Tips for Brûléed Yogurt Spoons
spoon
These brûléed yogurt spoons can be made ahead, with a few tricks:
- Fridge: Store assembled spoons (without brûlée topping) for up to 5 days. Add sugar and brûlée just before serving for best texture.
- Freezer: Yes, you can freeze them if you’re using jars/ramekins! Fill small jars or containers with yogurt and add-ins, freeze without the sugar topping for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge, then brûlée before serving.
- Post-brûlée storage: Not ideal. The sugar topping can melt or get soggy in the fridge. Best to torch just before eating.

Make-Ahead Instructions
Want to prep a batch of Brûléed Yogurt Spoons for the week?
- Assemble yogurt cups with any flavorings, fruit, or swirls.
- Store in the fridge with lids on.
- When ready to eat, sprinkle with sugar and brûlée!
- Optional: Torch the sugar ahead of time for a caramel candy layer that softens slightly but still offers that sweet crunch.
Substitutions & Flavor Variations
These brûléed yogurt spoons is basically a choose-your-own-adventure:
Yogurt
- Use what you’ve got: Greek yogurt, skyr, or even plant-based alternatives (like coconut or almond yogurt) all work.
- Flavored or plain: Vanilla adds a dessert-y touch, but plain gives you control over sweetness.
Sugar
- Stick with white sugar for the best brûlée crust.
- Coconut sugar or raw sugar can work, but they caramelize differently and may be less crisp (this is what I use if I’m serving this for breakfast).
- Zero-cal sweeteners (like erythritol) won’t caramelize well, but you can try a blowtorch experiment if you’re feeling brave.
Add-ins (mainly for larger portions):
- Fruit: Layer berries, bananas, or stewed fruit underneath or on top.
- Jam or compote: Swirl in for added sweetness and color.
- Nut butters: Peanut, almond, or tahini for richness and extra protein.
- Granola or crushed cookies: Add under the yogurt for a crunchy surprise.
- Flavored protein powders: Mix into the yogurt for an extra protein hit.
- Spices: Try cinnamon, cardamom, or ginger in the yogurt or sugar topping.
- Zests & extracts: Lemon zest, orange zest, vanilla or almond extract can all add a sophisticated twist.
Bonus Ideas: Take It Further

Bruleed Yogurt Spoons
Equipment
- chinese soup spoons (ceramic)
- kitchen torch (if you are using spoons, the torch is easier than the broiler)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Fruit preserves low sugar if you'd like
- 1/2 cup greek yogurt (or skyr) (you can use flavoured if you like)
- 1/3 cup sugar (granulated or coconut)
Instructions
- Put a bit (about 1 tbsp) of the fruit preserve/sauce in the bottom of each spoon (or in your ramekin).
- Top it with about a tablespoon of yogurt and smooth the top
- Sprinkle the top of each spoon with enough sugar to cover the surface
- Take a kitchen torch and brulee the top until the sugar begins to bubble (or, if you are using ramekins, you can use the broiler on your oven).
- Wait a few minutes for the sugar to harden (depending on the liquid content of your yogurt, it may not harden all the way…but it will still be great!!).
- Place these beauties on a buffet table for breakfast (or even as a healthier alternative for an after dinner dessert!!).
